A Message from the Principal

Welcome to North Street School!

North Street School is a wonderful and welcoming school serving approximately 430 students from

preschool through grade 5. We are located on 20 beautiful acres in the central part of Greenwich,

Connecticut. Our school is proud to offer a comprehensive, cognitively engaging and rigorous educational

program aligned with the district Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan.

It is the Mission of the Greenwich Public Schools

• to educate all students to the highest levels of academic achievement;

• to enable them to reach and expand their potential; and

• to prepare them to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of

society.

The District Strategic Plan District Strategic Plan is focused on the Academic, Personal and Interpersonal

Needs of our learners. In order to attain our goals, the Greenwich Public Schools are committed to the

Connecticut Core State Standards (CCSS), designed to prepare students for college and career readiness.

The Standards help teachers ensure their students have the skills and knowledge they need to be successful

by providing clear goals for student learning. The CCSS also supports the Vision of the Graduate.

North Street School has a highly experienced, talented, and dynamic team of professionals who are

dedicated to the success of every student. As a school community, we believe that building a positive

learning environment, where all members are valued and respected for their unique strengths and

differences, is fundamental to student success. By fostering a sense of curiosity and a love of learning in

our students, we help them become responsible, self-motivated learners. Our instructional focus is on

increasing the level of cognitive engagement of our students through rigorous tasks, student goal setting

and increased student voice and choice.

North Street School is blessed with the support of an energetic, enthusiastic and involved parent body

devoted to supporting the efforts of the staff and the success of our students. Our PTA sponsors a variety of

special events and programs throughout the school year that enhance and enrich the educational experience

of our youngsters and contributes immeasurably to our sense of community and school spirit.

We are looking forward to another year filled with excitement, a love of learning, and community building.
